Thanks, you are right ..it's much better, without the cookie muncher
effect. However, there does seem to be some echo,

With default values in Ekiga Audio Devices Preferences I had

0.0% packet loss, and live Jitter Buffer readings included 
were 205, 180, 280, 232, 234, 367 ms.

With Ensoniq AudioPCI I had 0.1% packet loss, and noted Jitter Buffer
readings at 500, 192, 187, 177, 187, 200, 142, & 225 ms.

How does one set max & minimum values ?
