Previously Geary was unable to display inline attached images or even multipart text emails from incoming mail. Also, if you received a forwarded message that was added as an attachment, _its_ attachments were not available. Thanks to considerable effort by Avi Levy and Robert Schroll, this is now fixed and working. In particular, images sent by Mac or iOS mail (including PDFs) use an "inline" Content-Disposition and should now be visible within Geary. If you're running Geary from master or our Daily Build PPA (https://launchpad.net/~yorba/+archive/daily-builds) please note that this update performs a database upgrade and will require reindexing your search table. Otherwise, you can look forward to this feature being available in Geary 0.4, to be released this fall. Thanks again to Avi and Robert for their great contributions! -- Jim From jim at yorba.org Fri Aug 9 23:36:10 2013 From: jim at yorba.org (Jim Nelson) Date: Fri, 09 Aug 2013 23:29:10 -0007 Subject: [Geary] Geary performance In-Reply-To: References: <51d45a50.c4730e0a.70b1.5ceb@mx.google.com> <51d45cdf.2692420a.36e9.157d@mx.google.com> Message-ID: <52057ce1.c99f420a.0a53.7f0b@mx.google.com> Hi everyone, I've committed two patches recently (http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/7279#change-33466 and http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/7238#change-33480) that considerably improve some problems Geary had with pulling too much email (sometimes unnecessarily) at once. However, when the second account is added, the corresponding Inbox folder is always empty and the message on the right-hand side says 'No conversation selected'. At the same time when the mouse pointer is placed over the Inbox folder the pop-up message says '6 messages'. So the emails (or at least relevant information about them) are fetched properly, but not displayed. My git tip is at 449a6aad56adcc6bcf0c9c772d95851ac43d934d. Both email accounts are IMAP-based. None of my GMail accounts want to archive or rather they archive and then they come right back into the inbox unread. Sometimes I'll archive several times (3-5) and then have it finally stick. Unfortunately, the latest version is not easily installed on elementary without upgrading a lot of support libraries. I'm not even sure it's possible, I've not heard from anyone who has been able to make it work. The problem you're seeing may be due to a flaky connection. How are you connected to the Internet on this machine? Are you having trouble with any other network app? -- Jim On Wed, Aug 28, 2013 at 10:55 AM, Matthew Wilcut wrote: > I'm messing around with elementaryOS with geary installed by default > and I have to say it's pretty frustrating so far. First, it looks like this is a free mail server. Unfortunately, I don't read Russian (it is Russian, yes?) so I can't create an email account. Is it possible for you to create one for me and send the details to jim at yorba.org? That would be the easiest way for me to see what the problem is. If not, please run Geary like this from the console: $ geary --debug --log-network > geary.log After exiting Geary, send the file to geary at yorba.org. Note that it may contain sensitive information. Please replace those strings with "XXXX" before sending.
