I think this means rotation. There is talk of doing that through the EXIF orientation property (which will still involve write permission). If you ask for a destructive transformation then f-spot will create a new version of your file (I think!). This will necessitate write permission to the directory. I just installed Gallery 2 (the nice commits release) and f-spot 0.0.2 on Ubuntu (Warty 4.10, FWIW) and the export doesn't seem to do much. I thought I read that f-spot exports to Gallery, but maybe I'm wrong. If so, does f-spot export static HTML? I've been looking at the wiki for f-spot and it seems to be a great program with really high goals. If CVS is a little too bleeding edge 0.0.3 is on gnome.org and I'll be making a 0.0.4 release next week. The current gallery export code is geared towards Gallery 1.4, I know Gallery 2 supports at least some of the 1.4 interface but I haven't had time to look into it yet. As far as static html there is nothing right now but there will be in the near future. Current CVS also has the beginnings of gnome-vfs (currently broken due to a marshalling problem) and Flickr export. Well, I've been meaning to try Flickr (it's the latest thing, right up there with gmail and I want to see what all the talk is about) so that sounds great. Add a name to each of the different picture types. Let me explain: I have a picture of 2 people at an office party. You classify it as "People" and "Event". You then can add a name to the event like "Office party". You can then add a names to the people like Bob and Betty. Now I want to do a search to get all the pictures for the event "Office Party" or I want to get all the pictures of Betty. Or maybe I want to get all the pictures from the "Office Party" that have Bob in them. I think this is in the Todo as: Search entry. We need an entry where you can type something and then the UI will update showing you all the pictures that match. (Probably the search should match the description, the name, and the tags of each picture.) The search entry should probably be on the right side of the main toolbar. It would also be cool if this integrates with beagle. So I can search my pictures meta data with beagle.
