The module is: totem-pl-parser I've filed a bug against jhbuild to update its module sets: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=501231 The bugzilla component is still the "playlist parser" component in Totem. Could the nice bugmasters create the totem-pl-parser module? As for the release and i18n teams, could they make sure the new module gets added to the Desktop release? Existing application will just need a rebuild, and distro packages an update in build requirements. Could you release a fixed gnome-keyring tarball today (or tomorrow morning) so we include gnome-keyring 2.21.3 in GNOME 2.21.3 ? If not, we will stick to 2.20.3 for this particular release. With Bedhad help, we tracked this problem to fontconfig cache which wasn't up to date. And I discovered we are still shipping fontconfig 2.4.1 by default with 2.21.x jhbuild releases. Bedhad suggested (and I agree with him) that we bumped fontconfig recommended version to 2.5.0 (which is stable) and cairo to 1.5.4 (since cairo 1.6 is scheduled for January (in time for Firefox 3). We added the external dependency page and the process around bumping since building GNOME had gotten totally out of control, but I think we swung the pendulum a bit too far and aren't ever bumping stuff. To: g-a-devel , desktop-devel-list Hi guys, I'm happy to report that RNIB has updated the license for the Tiresias fonts, and they now include the "font exception" clause. Please see the excerpt from Katherine Carter below, clarifying this to me (and also her URL to the updated license). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Many thanks for your email. It is very pleasing to hear that the Tiresias fonts are being positively received. With regards to the font exception, it was an omission, however it has now been added to the licence on the download page http://www.tiresias.org/fonts/fonts_download.htm#licence and within the COPYING files in each of the downloadable font folders. I've tried to put all necessary changes in this release, so hopefully it should be the last time I ask you to update the requirement for this release cycle (*crosses fingers*), although in a couple of weeks or so I'd like to release the stable version 2.6.0, which would be the recommended version then. Oh, FYI, the system-tools-backends repository has switched recently to git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/system-tools-backends.git , I hope nobody has been confused by the olde CVS repo not being updated recently. For me to attend, it'll need to be outside my my working hours, so it needs to avoid 14:00-24:00 UTC during the week. I get every other friday off, but Jan 11 is the Friday I'll be at work. Sadly, I realize those might be optimal times for everyone else; if so, I'll have to just type up my comments beforehand or something. Also note that gdm trunk now requires the "gnome-settings-daemon" package, recently added to svn. Note also that gnome-control-center yet provides a gnome-settings-daemon program, but I don't know if and how those are related. > ExternalDependencies: > PolicyKit & PolicyKit-gnome, ndesk-dbus & ndesk-dbus-glib Well, to build proposed modules (at least in jhbuild, I didn't check if those are hard or soft dependences) you need also: * guile (autogen)[1] * autogen (anjuta)[2] * gtkhtml2 (anjuta) * gtk-vnc (vinagre) * swfdec (swfdec-gnome) See also my previous mail about *telepathy* stuff. Plus, recently in jhbuild some external modules was updated to latest available version (cairo, fontconfig, gnutls, opencdk), but the page on wiki still links the old one. Since 0.5.10 was released Oct. 11 2007 and GNOME 2.22 is scheduled for sometime in 2008 I think we probably just want to bump the requirement to be hal 0.5.10. This to avoid mirror lag Notes: - Still downloads using http - Requires: python-paramiko package, ssh-agent setup, configured username for master.gnome.org in ~/.ssh/config and master.gnome.org should appear in ~/.ssh/known_hosts - Automatically falls back to http if sftp support is not working (not in all cases) - Need to add a connection cache as logging in is slow * Handle http redirects a bit better (download.gnome.org), this avoids ~ 50 secs of redirects (could be further improved) Note: The generated XML is (apart from gtksourceview-1.0) still the same. -- Regards, Olav From olav@bkor.dhs.org Mon Dec 24 21:24:50 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: release-team@gnome.org Delivered-To: release-team@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B27847500B8 for ; Mon, 24 Dec 2007 21:24:50 +0000 (GMT) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -3.187 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-3.187 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[BAYES_00=-2.599, DNS_FROM_RFC_ABUSE=0.2, FORGED_RCVD_HELO=0.135, L_P0F_Unix=-1, TW_GT=0.077] X-Amavis-OS-Fingerprint: Solaris 10 (beta), (distance 18, link: ethernet/modem), [213.46.255.22] Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id sC+24Dc2ozrk for ; Mon, 24 Dec 2007 21:24:43 +0000 (GMT) Received: from viefep15-int.chello.at (viefep18-int.chello.at [213.46.255.22]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 32971750083 for ; Mon, 24 Dec 2007 21:24:42 +0000 (GMT) Received: from bkor.dhs.org ([62.163.51.49]) by viefep15-int.chello.at (InterMail vM.7.08.02.00 201-2186-121-20061213) with ESMTP id <20071224212440.ECWQ27185.viefep15-int.chello.at@bkor.dhs.org> for ; Mon, 24 Dec 2007 22:24:40 +0100 Received: by bkor.dhs.org (Postfix, from userid 501) id E28378B51C4; Mon, 24 Dec 2007 22:24:39 +0100 (CET) Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2007 22:24:39 +0100 From: Olav Vitters To: release-team@gnome.org Subject: Re: Python < 2.5 anyone? SFTP using only Python is still really slow though. It adds ~2 min to the whole process. * Switched to curl instead of wget. This for the 1-line progress bar. Further, made curl change the local tarball timestamp to that of the server. Wget could do this as well, this is just a preparation for when someone wants to check when a tarball was released (either in the script or a ls -lt in the tarball directory). The conversion at this time takes ~11min (with a clean tarball directory). I'll now try to add more error checking to the script (to avoid too new tarball versions being released accidentally). The script might already do this though. Oh, for some reason when using 'sftp', the script isn't doesn't stop when expected. E.g. coding error, sys.exit(1), ctrl-c. It only occurs after the 'sftp' connection is closed. No idea why this is and I can't figure out what paramiko (module implementing sftp) is doing to cause this. -- Regards, Olav From vuntz@gnome.org Tue Dec 25 10:21:39 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: release-team@gnome.org Delivered-To: release-team@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 44400750097 for ; Tue, 25 Dec 2007 10:21:39 +0000 (GMT) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -2.401 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.401 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[AWL=0.121, BAYES_00=-2.599, TW_GT=0.077] X-Amavis-OS-Fingerprint: Linux 2.6 (newer, 1) (up: 1263 hrs), (distance 19, link: ethernet/modem), [82.228.182.88] Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id cFOApUC1bgMd for ; Tue, 25 Dec 2007 10:21:34 +0000 (GMT) Received: from fennas.vuntz.net (fennas.vuntz.net [82.228.182.88]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9B2E275008C for ; Tue, 25 Dec 2007 10:21:33 +0000 (GMT) Received: by fennas.vuntz.net (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 75CAA1126E7; Tue, 25 Dec 2007 11:21:31 +0100 (CET) Date: Tue, 25 Dec 2007 11:21:31 +0100 From: Vincent Untz To: release-team@gnome.org Subject: Re: Python < 2.5 anyone? Didn't notice it, but it requires a newer dbus: Oh, right, didn't notice that it wasn't a dependency in jhbuild... s-t-b is using now DBus 1.1.2 for system bus activation. Before, s-t-b was spawning a private session bus in order to raise on demand its configuration modules, which was fairly hackish compared to the current usage. If GNOME 2.22 isn't going to depend on DBus 1.1.x/1.2.x, I can revert this change for s-t-b 2.5.x and wait for the next unstable cycle, as it isn't quite visible from the users' point of view, but I'd obviously prefer it to use system bus activation :) Regards, Carlos From ak-47@gmx.net Sat Dec 29 19:00:55 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: release-team@gnome.org Delivered-To: release-team@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 94DEB75007F for ; Sat, 29 Dec 2007 19:00:55 +0000 (GMT) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -2.512 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.512 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[AWL=0.087, BAYES_00=-2.599] X-Amavis-OS-Fingerprint: Linux 2.6, seldom 2.4 (older, 4) (up: 4783 hrs), (distance 20, link: ethernet/modem), [213.165.64.20] Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id yZENHkWL980T for ; Sat, 29 Dec 2007 19:00:50 +0000 (GMT) Received: from mail.gmx.net (mail.gmx.net [213.165.64.20]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 5B16B75002F for ; Sat, 29 Dec 2007 19:00:48 +0000 (GMT) Received: (qmail invoked by alias); 29 Dec 2007 19:00:46 -0000 Received: from dslb-088-070-068-000.pools.arcor-ip.net (EHLO [192.168.1.34]) [88.70.68.0] by mail.gmx.net (mp010) with SMTP; 29 Dec 2007 20:00:46 +0100 X-Authenticated: #726810 X-Provags-ID: V01U2FsdGVkX19l/eROVZ9lKfqrj1+OmF/6vTUVlSFo4AjqWQ17Ga nNV7FOk4DCOqq9 Subject: D-Bus roadmap? During the week it'll have to be outside of working hours, so after 17.00 UTC.. which conflicts with Elijah. I do want to attend the first one though (module discussion). Basically it converts a simple text file into various output formats. I've enhanced it a little so it now: * Does ical, sort of * Emails, sort of * Output code for the wiki (this should work) Do an svn update for releng and you'll find everything under schedule. The template directory is not used. It still is a bit hackish. You'll want to check two things: * 2.22.schedule: the text file * libschedule.py: contains wiki descriptions, summaries and descriptions for the stuff in the text file Then there is the stuff that uses this: automail.py, ical.py and wiki.py. Problems: * Still too much hard coding * Announces everything 3 days in advance (even tarballs due + the actual GNOME release) * Some duplication of text (currently between the descriptions and automail.py) * It doesn't know about rc/beta.. the announcements contain them, but there is no nice 'beta 1', 'beta 2'. All are just 'beta' * The ical doesn't work properly in Evolution. It doesn't see the alarm (it schedules it, however Evolution doesn't see that it should warn about it 3 days in advance). Further, long descriptions (72+ chars) cause spaces to appear in weird places. That last one is an Evolution bug btw (not sure about the first one). Assumptions: * In the text file you only set an event for a week. An event is almost always on Monday. The exception is releases. Those are on Wednesday and libschedule.py automatically adds a fake tarballs due event on Monday (you don't actually specify this in the text file) Could someone look over the descriptions, summaries, etc? Please expand them. If you run ./automail.py you'll see the different events that it parsed (do comment out the emailing part.. it is set to email me some test stuff). -- Regards, Olav
