[orca-list] text selection in Orca 2.24.1

Hello List!

How can one tell, using speech, in the subject Orca, what text is 
selected?  In some instances, such as in gedit, Orca will say "selected" 
as I highlight things.  On web pages and in Thunderbird, it will not.
