I think the issue with the shutdown menu is a gnome issue and is presenton more than openSolaris.

As for seeing other drives, I don't know if OpenSolaris supports otherfile systems (eg. ntfs). I think there is work to get fuse and NTFS-3gto work on OpenSolaris (as I remember I did find a web page describinghow to do this, but I don't have the URL).
