setting nautilus icon theme without gnome installed

hello

I am looking for a way to set a icon theme for nautilus without having
gnome installed.

I run a Gentoo laptop  with FVWM for my windows manager.
I really like "NAUTILUS" File Manger.

I did have gnome installed and removed it to run fvwm. I checked and
all the theme and icon files are still there and when i run gconf-editor
I can see that icon-theme is set to "Nuvola" but my icons are all the same
a blank sheet of paper.
