The GNOME Mobile page lists the components that you'll need. Alternatively, Poky (pokylinux.org) will build it all for you, and adding an AVR32 port should be fairly trivial (it already supports uclibc). Ross --=20 OpenedHand Ltd. While you are right in general that adding new archs to OpenEmbedded based buidsystems (e.g. Poky), avr32 is a special case, like atmel patches _removing_ platforms from gcc, not supporting shared libs, arv32-gcc ICEing every other hour and finally kdrive lacking defines for avr32. For other stuff I had to ask raster or olv if they are missing some special stuff. It is not that we plan to switch away from kdrive, just curious why kdrive is still used so much. For devices with only 16 mb ram it makes sense, of course, but going with 128 mb and same in flash in some devices this days, it brings up the question again if a full blown xserver would bring in some other benefits. regards Stefan Schmidt --NQTVMVnDVuULnIzU Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: Digital signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://www.datenfreihafen.org/contact.html iD8DBQFHM3FZbNSsvd31FmURAo56AJ9aurog/xP7ca1aIOcGielL4jK61ACfayGK c/r5qM9TmhG3aPC++u/uIqI= =eTEn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --NQTVMVnDVuULnIzU-- From ross@openedhand.com Thu Nov 8 15:46:26 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org Delivered-To: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C047D3B0075 for ; Thu, 8 Nov 2007 15:46:26 -0500 (EST) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Score: -2.464 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.464 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[BAYES_00=-2.599, FORGED_RCVD_HELO=0.135] X-Amavis-OS-Fingerprint: Linux 2.4-2.6 (up: 7008 hrs), (distance 13, link: ethernet/modem), [67.19.73.58] Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id PJXw1OE9sXJn for ; Thu, 8 Nov 2007 15:46:24 -0500 (EST) Received: from pug.o-hand.com (3a.49.1343.static.theplanet.com [67.19.73.58]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D69763B0029 for ; Thu, 8 Nov 2007 15:46:24 -0500 (EST) Received: from [192.168.1.65] (unknown [91.84.213.104]) (using TLSv1 with cipher RC4-MD5 (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by pug.o-hand.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB579E2A215; Thu, 8 Nov 2007 16:08:44 -0500 (EST) Subject: Re: X for gnome mobile From: Ross Burton To: Stefan Schmidt In-Reply-To: <20071108202809.GG1483@datenfreihafen.org> References: <3874366f0711080757v3a49c97ap64a6ea4115af2ed3@mail.gmail.com> <1194538290.6721.17.camel@blackadder> <1194538930.5405.149.camel@localhost> <3874366f0711080834h4aeb9f4agd429d6dc76df243e@mail.gmail.com> <20071108164203.GD1483@datenfreihafen.org> <1194542221.6859.64.camel@polystyrene> <20071108202809.GG1483@datenfreihafen.org> Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="=-8eFmxua4yOK/6i0jYzsM" Organization: Opened Hand Ltd Date: Thu, 08 Nov 2007 20:46:19 +0000 Message-Id: <1194554779.6721.36.camel@blackadder> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Evolution 2.10.1 Cc: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org X-BeenThere: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.8 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME Mobile Platform development and discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 08 Nov 2007 20:46:26 -0000 --=-8eFmxua4yOK/6i0jYzsM Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Thu, 2007-11-08 at 21:28 +0100, Stefan Schmidt wrote: > Does the xrandr extension support resize, not only rotation? I think you will be very interested in P.I.P.S. then. It's a POSIX layer
(a libc, basically) for SymbianOS. I think some people at Nokia have
GLib ported to it already. Not sure about Gtk+ though. I know P.I.P.S.
comes with for example an impl. of pthread.

Such a port would be totally awesome. Let me know when you start with
this.

The idea was originally to do one for Tinymail but my good friend Sergio Villar convinced me to broaden the scope to GMAE (and include all other GMAE related technologies, and of course also the GNOME ones). I'm looking for volunteers who'll attend FOSDEM '08 to guard the stand, to help with demoing applications and GMAE-enabled devices, etc etc. I've already requested the GNOME Event box which indeed includes posters, computers, LCD screens and a few Maemo devices if I remember correctly. I can bring my OX, an OpenMoko phone and a 770 and N800. I'm sure there will be plenty of devices available for demo purposes, though. It would also be nice to have a few GPEPhone ones (ping and hint to Florian and Nils -- don't forget to put TMut on it! :) -- ). Let me know what you guys think. Note that my personal skills are probably not high on organising big things. So I can definitely use some help with this too (although it's probably not going to be a big thing). -- Philip Van Hoof, freelance software developer home: me at pvanhoof dot be gnome: pvanhoof at gnome dot org http://pvanhoof.be/blog http://codeminded.be From vincent@vuntz.net Sun Nov 11 17:46:52 2007 Return-Path: X-Original-To: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org Delivered-To: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9BD757500A3; Sun, 11 Nov 2007 17:46:52 +0000 (GMT) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -2.444 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.444 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[AWL=0.155, BAYES_00=-2.599] X-Amavis-OS-Fingerprint: Linux 2.6 (newer, 1) (up: 1412 hrs), (distance 19, link: ethernet/modem), [82.228.182.88] Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id vQCeHmJH3chb; Sun, 11 Nov 2007 17:46:51 +0000 (GMT) Received: from fennas.vuntz.net (fennas.vuntz.net [82.228.182.88]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5448C7500A7; Sun, 11 Nov 2007 17:46:51 +0000 (GMT) Received: by fennas.vuntz.net (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 86F231126CE; Sun, 11 Nov 2007 18:46:48 +0100 (CET) Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2007 18:46:48 +0100 From: Vincent Untz To: Philip Van Hoof Subject: Re: GNOME (Mobile) stand at FOSDEM '08 Message-ID: <20071111174648.GA29700@vuntz.net> References: <1194710767.7453.40.camel@schtrumpf> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit In-Reply-To: <1194710767.7453.40.camel@schtrumpf> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.16 (2007-06-11) Cc: Pascal Bleser , Sergio Villar Senin , mobile-devel-list@gnome.org X-BeenThere: mobile-devel-list@gnome.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.8 Precedence: list List-Id: GNOME Mobile Platform development and discussion List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2007 17:46:52 -0000 Hi, Le samedi 10 novembre 2007, à 17:06 +0100, Philip Van Hoof a écrit : > Hi there, > > I proposed manning a stand at FOSDEM '08. Sorry, Philip, but I'm lost: is this about the same stand that Christophe requested for GNOME or is it something else? If it's the same, it'd be nice to work with GNOME-FR (and GNOME-DE/GNOME-NL, but we didn't ask them yet) so we don't organize the same stand in two separate groups. And if it's not, then we would have needed the event box too ;-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. We already discussed and agreed (together with for example Jeff Waugh) that the general context of the stand will indeed be GMAE and not "just Tinymail". Now that this stand is officially accepted, we might want to notify the people on the GMAE mailing list about this .. and offer them to join the stand with their technologies and devices. Being Tinymail's author, and Sergio being Tinymail's main contributor, there might of course be a certain emphasis on Tinymail (especially while we'll be at the stand). Although I will happily share the stand with any other GNOME and/or GMAE community member who'll show his technologies and softwares. > > We'll send you further information in about 2 weeks. > > > > Who's the designated contact person for that stand ? > > Don't know if Philip or Sergio want to play that role.
