Problem installing atk package

Hey,

I am getting a problem compiling the atk package. After installing fontconfig,pkg-config,Glib,pango(in that order) when i do ./configure for the atk package it gives an error saying pkg-config --modversion glib  gives glib version 2.8.6 but glib 2.4.7 was found!..
*** Glib 2.0.0 or better is required. The latest version of
*** Glib is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/

 

I really would appreciate any help.
