One menu, multiple drawing areas

How can I have a sigle menu bar and status bar
but have multiple drawing area's?

Everytime I select something from a menu I would like
another drawing area to come up.
Would this be:
create a new main frame
create a new drawing area within the new main frame


If I have multiple drawing areas how do I associate
the active area to the menu functions?
