usize and resizing

Hello

I have a question about resizing.
When I try to resize a gtk window, I can make it just as "low" (small
height) as I want to, but I can't give it too small width. I can't make
the window so narrow that the any widget's width is bellow its usize-
width.
Is this a bug/feature in gtk/gdk/glib or in afterstep (or somewhere else)?
