x/y tilt

hi,
i am writing an application which
utilizes a wacom tablet. i've used
the guidelines in the tutorial on
www.gtk.org and the app gsumi to
get a basic app up and running but
ran into a problem which i have no
answer for. the x, y and pressure
fields of a motion notify event is
populated correctly but the x/ytilt
fields are left zero. is there some
special way i need to enable these
two fields to get going or may it be
a problem in the XInput driver for
my tablet ?
