touchscreen and gtk sliders

hi everybody!

i'm going to write an application for a touchscreen and i want to use some
sliders. is there a chance to make sliders and scale widgets wider?
gtk_widget_set_usize does'nt seem to work. i think i've to use styles, if it
is possible in the first place. any hints?
