Ruler look & feel?

Hello,

I've a plot window where some data is drawn, and some rulers next to it.
The range of the ruler can be between 0 and 1000 (say), or also between 
0 and 1 or even less. In this case (when zooming in) I see different
scales of tick marks that appear when I zoom, but at small scales there 
are nearly no numbers drawn, only integer tick numbers appear.
Say, you have zoomed to 0.4 to 0.5, and there are no numbers seen
because the next ones are 0 and 1. Is there any way to change this,
e.g. draw also 1/10 intervals or anything?

Any help would be appreciated...
