stupid questions

how can I get and set the size of a widget (exp. a window)?
gtk_widget_set_usize() does not enough because it will set
the minimum size for a widget, user can not resize the window
smaller than the size that gtk_widget_set_usize() set.

another question is: is there a FAQ list about gtk-devel?
I think that will be useful for the newbies like me.
