The files that have to be removed are really version-specific.  I don't
know exactly which versions you have installed, and even if I did, I
would have to do a `make install' in the order you did to be able to
help you.

Just my 2cents for later though...  Before I do a `make install' of any
package, I usually run a `script package-version.log', just like:

	root:/usr/src/gtk+-1.2.2 # script ~/packages/gtk+-1.2.2.log
	Script started on XXX.YYY ...
	root:/usr/src/gtk+-1.2.2 # make install
	...
	[ lots of output lines stripped ]
	...
	root:/usr/src/gtk+-1.2.2 # exit
	Script exited on XXX.YYY

and then I have a rather verbose log of what the installation of every
package changed on the system.
	
This is really not of any help to you now, but it could prove of some
aid in future installations :-)))
