You can also use the "rpm -ta gtk???tar.gz" command (fill in the right
filename). It does all the steps above.
Also watch out for the LINGUAS environment variable (if I remember
right). In redhat it's set in /etc/sysconfig/i18n to some value and
when it is set rpm don't want to build any rpms for me. It fails in the
last part. I guess that this is only a problem for those who
don't use english, because I haven't seen anyone else complain about it.
I did it on glib 1.2.4 and gtk+ 1.2.4. No problem at all.
