Take a look at Glade as a example. I believe everyone is moving towards XML
with good cause, it is flexible and parsers exist for most all languages.

Bad idea. MS changes the fromats all the time.

Sounds good. One can always fix problems, extract data, reformat, etc. with
a
plain text editor.
