Mostly my messages to the developer list are completely
ignored. I really don't mind getting flamed on this if
there is an answer hidden in the flames.
We are writing WorksPlus, an Applix type package. Three
apps within it already work. File formats on disk are the
question.
We're starting to think that we should use Microsoft file
formats for Word, Excel, and Access. Why? I also run a
home building business, and every day I get Word files
attached to email. The sender just ASSUMES that I can read
Word files, or Excel, etc. So why fight it?
Another option is to use xml. Is that really the future
for file formats, or has Microsoft already won that battle?
Our file formats are currently all visible ascii
characters. We could stay that way too.
YOUR COMMENTS WILL MAKE THE DECISION FOR US. How about it?
