agreed. Unfortunately it looks like all developers use egcs now and
if code is added that does not work on 2.7.2, it'll not be found
immediately - only after bug reports from people using 2.7.2 come
in... I expect these problems get smaller some time after feature freeze.

very newest egcs snapshots have some new problems(==internal errors on
container.gen_h) on things that worked on 2.7.2. Alittle older egcs'
works fine. (I tried 981127 and it still has the problem) Though,
newest egcs' have stricter const checks too - and gtk-- might still
have some problems with those - I havent been able to fix those yet,
will do it soon... again older egcs' will work fine.
