Item factory

Hello.  I am using GTK for a final project for a course here at Brown, and
I have run into trouble making menus.  All the example code still
uses the menufactory, which is now deprecated, and I have not been
able to get the examples to compile.  The online tutorial, too, uses the
deprecated menu factory as opposed to the new item factory.

My question is this:  Does anyone have any sample code and/or
documentation regarding how to make pull down menus with the new item
factory?  If yes, could you please send it to me here at
lenny@cs.brown.edu.  Any help would be very much appreciated.  Thank you.
