Problem getting gnumeric to run

I had a very strange problem. I have been using gnumeric for
the past month or so (version 0.45) and it has been working fine.
Tonight, I typed up a couple of spreadsheets and printed them out
in various ways. I noticed that when I changed the print options
(like from landscape to portrait), the print option dialog pop-up
took a while to close, like it was trying to lock up, but after
10 seconds or so, the dialog pop-up closed and things seemed fine.
After this, however, when I tried to launch gnumeric, it did not open up
the first blank window. I checked the processes and gnumeric was
running, but nothing was on my display. After trying a few things,
I noticed that I could launch gnumeric when logged in as another
user.
I solved my problem by renaming the file ~/.gnome/Gnumeric, which
I suppose is a settings file. Gnumeric seems to create this file
if it does not exist. The file gnumeric created is only one line,
while the old (bad) version of this file is 12538 lines long. Most
of these lines in the bad version are of the form:
FormatHF-n_left=
FormatHF-n_middle=
FormatHF-n_right=
where n goes from 0 to 4159. These lines are located under the
[Headers and Footers] heading in the Gnumeric settings file.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I did something wrong in changing
the print and page layout settings. Has anyone else seen this kind of
behavior?
