Simply Superb!

Sorry--

Either Netscape or my ISP screwed up or this message just got lost in
the vast Internet. I never saw this message in the archive on the web
and I never got it in my mail so that is why I sent the test message to
see if the list was working. Anyway, let me try this again.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations on a fine work of art, gnumeric.

Though I am a perfectionist, especially when it comes to a GUI, though I
would like to see an exact duplicate of the Windows GUI with the power
of Linux driving it, though I am still having a hard time getting used
to the triangles in the scroll bars, though I would be pleased to see a
tad bit more spacing between widgets on the screen, and yes I know I
should probably find a good theme,

my heart IS quickly warming up to GTK+ and Gnome. I was playing with
the latest
Gnumeric and was amazed that the cursor and the grid and highlights on
the selected cell(s) looked virtually like Excel. I was very pleased,
as you have come a long ways from the early versions of Gnumeric I have
played with. One thing I miss in the latest, though, is the ability to
center a block of text across multiple columns. But I am sure, with
patience, this feature will soon appear. With time, Gnumeric will serve
the spreadsheet needs of huge masses of Linux users, both for work and
the home.

I would offer to assist in development but I am only now learning the C
programming language. Maybe, in time, I might conjure up a patch or
two.

As Christmas is just around the corner, Merry Christmas to the Gnumeric
developers.
Please, keep up the excellent work.

Thank you.
