Opinion 4:
That CLOSE closes a workbook (but doesn't exit gnumeric) and EXIT exits
gnumeric (and closes workbooks if necessary).
For a good look at how option 4 works check out gedit (I use 0.6.1 but
other versions should work the same).
* When you open gedit you get open document.
* If you then open another document without making any changes to the
initial document, the initial document is replaced with the new
document.
* You can then open more documents which appear in the same windows
(with tabs to distinguish between documents) and these can then be
dragged to new windows if you want to work with documents in seperate
windows.
* When you click CLOSE it closes the current documents. If there is only
one document open then it replaces that document with a new document.
* If you then open another document then this new document is replaced
with the document being opened.
* And of course, if you wish to exit gedit at any time you can click on
EXIT with closes all documents and exits.
* There's also a CLOSE ALL option which closes all documents but does
not exit gedit.
I believe this is the model that should be used for gnumeric. It's
extremely flexible, allowing each person to work the way they wish
(documents all in one window or in seperate windows or a mixture of
both) and the options CLOSE and EXIT work consistently across all
situations.
Check it out...
