I am completely new to GNOME and just setup a Fedora Core 5 box. I
also setup VNC Viewer so I could access the desktop from my

there must be a setting somewhere to place the pc into 'hibernate' or
something and I can't figure out where that is or how for that not to
happen. It appears the machine is on--I can ssh to it--but when I VNC
to it it's just a black screen and when I go over to it--same thing.
It's like the desktop turns off after idle for maybe an hr or 2 and I
can't wake it back up. Therefore I have to restart the server. I'm
wondering if there is a certain parameter for initializing the gnome
session? I have checked all the power management to 'never' and when
idle do nothing but I don't know where else to look. Therefore I'm
not sure if this is a bug or a missing setting on my part. I'd
appreciate any hints on where to look or what to files/commands that
might help me.
Yes, I am seeing the same things with the exception that I can still see
the screen using VNC (x0rfbserver on the machine with the black screen).
The cursor is still visible on the physical screen, just nothing else.
If I disable all screensaving and power management, it doesn't go black
anymore, so this is definitely something to do with the screen saver.
I am using an nvidia fx5200 with the 8774 driver. How about yourself?
