[Evolution] It's possible to force retrieve messages by external script

Hi all,

I would like to know if is possible to control a running evolution by
external script.

The first thing I need is the retrieve (like F9 pressed) when an event
is generated.

Next, what appens if I use F9 to read an mbox file and in the same time
another program (like sendmail) is writing to it?
