A possible approach would be to reflect the authenticity of a part with
a key right-aligned in the message header block, while for added
security, a lock (or key?) would appear in the status bar / toolbar
if any part of the message is signed.

Upon clicking the toolbar / status bar icon, a detailed list would pop
up, showing the signature owner names and other data embedded in the
signature (not sure what's embedded in PGP - only played with X509).

Another crazy idea would be adding a bar on the left side of the
message:

+-+------------
| | A plain message
| | Blah blah blah
|.|. . . . . . . . . . .
|s| A signed message embedded
|s| Blah blah blah
|.|. . . . . . . . . . .
|s| Another signed message following afterwards ...
|.|. . . . . . . . . . .
| | A plain message

Where 's' denotes a special color (as opposed to the bar's default
gray), and the dots could be a thin dotted line separating message
parts, embedded messages etc.

I'm not sure whether such a bar should appear for messages which
don't contain signed parts, but for signed messages, we could have a
fancy lock icon on top, call it the "Authenticity bar"(R) and market
it as a killer feature :)
