The bug was the stinky #350053[1]. On top of that it was a palindromic number[2] (spanish fact: it's called capicúa here.), boo... Da Vinci might be behind that. I remember it was fixed on 2.18 branch. But I can't find it on the ChangeLog :/. I've come to use the if-it's-not-a-URI-then-search behaviour of the Epiphany location bar a _lot_. However, in the version currently in Debian Sid (2.18.1) that particular feature is gone.
