You do not have any account in ekiga. If you wish to call an account on ekiga.net, like 500, you need an ekiga.net account. Note also that you need to have "Network detection" (or smth like that) on in Preferences. -- Eugen From Thomas.K.Hill at t-online.de Mon Jul 28 20:38:49 2014 From: Thomas.K.Hill at t-online.de (Thomas Hill) Date: Mon, 28 Jul 2014 22:38:49 +0200 Subject: [Ekiga-list] could not register (method not allowed) In-Reply-To: <53D6AA84.8070903@univ-fcomte.fr> References: <53D37C13.9070600@t-online.de> <53D3AC7C.7080706@univ-fcomte.fr> <53D69B63.5070807@t-online.de> <53D6AA84.8070903@univ-fcomte.fr> Message-ID: <53D6B4D9.4090302@t-online.de> Am 28.07.2014 um 21:54 schrieb Eugen Dedu: > On 28/07/14 20:50, Thomas Hill wrote: >> Am 26.07.2014 um 15:26 schrieb Eugen Dedu: >>> On 26/07/14 11:59, Thomas Hill wrote: >>>> Hi, >>>> >>>> I am trying to use ekiga on the same machine as my asterisk server is >>>> running on. >>>> (note: my asterisk configuration is working fine as I can register the >>>> account from a windows laptop using X-lite. Observation: I am only able to do this when a) starting ekiga from the command line in a root terminal session (when just selecting ekiga from the menu I am getting remote computer busy when trying to place the call -> strange, isn't it?) b) when placing the first call I need to append the IP address to the extension for it to work the first time. On consecutive calls I do not need to enter the full string including the IP again, just the extension I want to call suffices... I would really like to get it to run for both incoming and outgoing call while using my normal "Thomas" user account. When starting from the menu as Thomas I am getting the message "Ekiga did not manage to configure your network settings automatically. You can still use it, but you need to configure your network settings manually. Please see http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Enable_port_forwarding_manually for instructions". I have configured the port forwarding as described when following this link, but no change. As this didn't help, I have deleted the port forwarding rules again. Attaching a new log created after starting ekiga from the command line as root and then I placed a call to another SIP client on my network (successfully), but when trying to call my ekiga client from that other machine I am getting an error and there is no call announced on the ekiga side. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... But another issue came up. When I am using same wifi network for both the systems I am not getting Remote videos at both the ends. The softphone should work irrespective of the network..right? Please reply me if there are some settings that I have to take care of. Regards, Reshmi.
