Then some update (not to ekiga) causes a situation where "Recv pkts" on the call window (normally ~8.0) drops to 0, with a corresponding loss of received voice after about 2 minutes into the call. After about 30 seconds, it comes back again for another 2 minutes. To avoid annoying a human call recipient, I can reproduce by calling the voice mail system of my VOIP provider (nextiva). Has anyone else run into this? What's next? A debug log while reproducing? Note that ekiga and opal have *not* been updated - some other part of the system has changed incompatibly. As far as I understand from the code, ekiga creates an alias from the user name, the one shown in the second page of the assistant. As for user and password: try adding a random user and password, quit ekiga, and use gconf-editor to remove user and password from your account; these are found in apps->ekiga->protocols. If your gatekeeper handles SIP, or (SIP and H323) it is possible to use personnal accounts and register to gate keeper. Depending on Polycom software version, it is necessary to have a first h323 connection to initialize the bridge (!!!) For H323 only gatekeeper, there are 2 way to configure it : 1. transparent : authorize all clients. The you can access to videoconferencing with any client (using h323:) 2. with accounting : password is not managed by client, then leave passward blank. You can connect clients using h323:@ If you have an IP or a test account, I will test it. Our H.323 only gateway [a Polycom VBP-5300-LF2] does not require a password so therefore it is transparent. It works well with the Polycom client which I can configure with gatekeeper address and H.323 E.164 extension and H.323 alias 2. In the Ekiga client If I use uri h323:10.4.5.4 [the internal address of our gatekeeper] I get a msg stating the gatekeeper has cleared the call - note I get that whatever address I specify 3. What uri can I use to make a call via a transparent h.323 gatekeeper e.g. h323: and ? 4. Essentially I want to be able to register to the transparent gatekeeper [and ideally supply it the client H323 {E164} extension and alias]. That said if I manage to register the Ekiga client to the transparent gatekeeper I can then configure the registration on the gatekeeper with a E.164 extension and H.323 alias [name] Eugen I found the ekiga.conf file on the client, when I remove the user and password, the client says it has registered but I cannot see that on the gatekeeper or make calls, furthermore when I go back into the Ekiga client after existing the original user & password are persistent despite deleting from the .conf file :( Regards Robert On Wed, Nov 20, 2013 at 9:35 PM, Eugen Dedu wrote: > On 19/11/13 23:30, Robert White wrote: > >> Eugen Dedu kindly advised to "try adding a random user and password, quit >> ekiga, and use gconf-editor to remove user and password from your account; >> these are found in apps->ekiga->protocols" but I cannot see on my windows >> client a gconf-editor program or apps->ekiga->protocols location >> > > On Windows you have to use wordpad to modify the settings, see section > Notes of http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Installing_Ekiga_on_Windows. > Search for your password for ex. file to find out where it is in the > configuration file. > > -- > Eugen > > _______________________________________________ > ekiga-list mailing list > ekiga-list at gnome.org > https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/ekiga-list > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
