Diamondcard works great. Cheap rates to foreign countries (especially Germany). Still have them - they replace our long distance service at home. PrePay by the minute - no monthly charges. Aptela.com *was* great - until they got bought by vocalocity. Vocalocity shut down all the working VOIP servers, and substituted their own - which only work with a certain Windows app. Do NOT recommend. You should build ptlib 2.10.7, opal 3.10.7 and ekiga 3.9.90. If you modify ekiga, you can pass this test and use ptlib 2.10.6, but it is a less good version than 2.10.7. Using even older versions is not recommended at all, you can have compile errors and other bugs!! We could add some information to section 8.1. Codecs at 16kHz are better than codecs at 8kHz, but use more bandwidth. I suggest to use speex: at 16kHz if you have sufficient bandwidth, otherwise at 8kHz, but I have very little experience on this. With speex 16kHz, if you speak without interruption, it could take, very approximately, 40kbit/s. Note that if you check on Silence detection, nothing is transmitted when you do not say anything. I will add this to the manual. -- Eugen From Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr Wed Oct 17 21:58:35 2012 From: Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (Eugen Dedu) Date: Wed, 17 Oct 2012 23:58:35 +0200 Subject: [Ekiga-list] ekiga-3.9.90 : make issue (on Mageia 2 x86_64) In-Reply-To: <50602740.2070200@laposte.net> References: <505F2337.6020600@laposte.net> <505F6BF0.3010209@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <505F6DF4.7080901@laposte.net> <505F8123.3090206@laposte.net> <505FE97F.8070208@free.fr> <50600EAF.6020709@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <50602385.10904@laposte.net> <5060245F.1060204@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> <50602740.2070200@laposte.net> Message-ID: <507F2A0B.9000706@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> On 24/09/12 11:26, geo cherchetout wrote: > Le 24/09/2012 11:14, *Eugen Dedu* wrote: > >> Geo, compress it, or look at >> http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Debugging_Ekiga#Sending_the_data_to_us Are you still available to see why this error? Also, when you are behind NAT (as with a typical home router) with more than one SIP phone, a SIP proxy can help with compatibility with x at y.com that doesn't handle that well. Ekiga.net does not provide SIP proxy, so you have to set your router to forward incoming SIP/RTP connections to your single ekiga instance. (Diamondcard essentially provides "proxy" service to landlines and works fine with multiple ekiga instances.) With something like asterisk running at home behind NAT, it provides a single point of contact for incoming calls, and routes them to the appropriate private IP. Ok, the error is the following: 2012/10/19 18:47:54.461 0:36.755 CallSetup:...4bc8e61700 SIP PDU Write failed: Invalid argument Unfortunately, I cannot understand why this may happen. This appeared for another user too. To debug this error, the only thing I see is to build opal and check throughly why it triggers this error. For me, the simplest method is that I have access to your machine and do all the necessary tests, by sharing your screen with me, so that you see all that I do. Are you ok with this or not? I understand that some people refuse this. -- Eugen From member at linkedin.com Sat Oct 20 06:14:14 2012 From: member at linkedin.com (Mohamed Farid via LinkedIn) Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2012 06:14:14 +0000 (UTC) Subject: [Ekiga-list] Invitation to connect on LinkedIn Message-ID: <354181074.2527987.1350713654601.JavaMail.app@ela4-app2312.prod> LinkedIn ------------ Mohamed Farid requested to add you as a connection on LinkedIn: ------------------------------------------ Ekiga, I'd like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn. - Mohamed Accept invitation from Mohamed Farid http://www.linkedin.com/e/-ftw4xo-h8ic1a2r-1p/iHa0zVPWVd4WovTXWBNiOEcPhdCMLPXV/blk/I179013881_165/3wOtCVFbmdxnSVFbm8JrnpKqlZJrmZzbmNJpjRQnOpBtn9QfmhBt71BoSd1p65Lr6lOfPkSclYNe3wPcj0VdP59bRxahR9pcQkRbPAVczgOczAScjALrCBxbOYWrSlI/eml-comm_invm-b-in_ac-inv28/?hs=false&tok=2TqnHSO6cmwls1 View profile of Mohamed Farid http://www.linkedin.com/e/-ftw4xo-h8ic1a2r-1p/rso/210635868/EOwB/name/166057623_I179013881_165/?hs=false&tok=3gSboSr-Ymwls1 ------------------------------------------ You are receiving Invitation emails. It turns out all this was due to me trying to call a number without the hostname - a full URI is needed, though oddly that seemed to fail when I tried that.
