Just click on the Accounts dialog, your menu should change and you will see an Add entry. If you really do not see it, then there should be an option in your desktop to show menus from dialog boxes or something like this. -- Eugen From bluejay at fujifilm.com Sat Apr 2 21:52:59 2011 From: bluejay at fujifilm.com (Bluejay Adametz) Date: Sat, 2 Apr 2011 17:52:59 -0400 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Ekiga on RedHat/ScientificLinux 6.0 In-Reply-To: <4D95A51C.6060106@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> References: <4D95A51C.6060106@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> Message-ID: >> On two different machines (one laptop, one desktop, both 32-bit), with >> two different webcams (Logitec and Microsoft) and different sound >> cards, ekiga-3.2.6-3.el6.i686), ekiga doesn't seem to be able to find >> any sound or video devices. On dl.free server this number should be put in both login and password fields. Your hosts.deny seems wrong, since it has three fields, from man hosts_access: All other lines should satisfy the following format, things between [] being optional: daemon_list : client_list [ : shell_command ] Anyway, take a glance at the debug output (-d 4) if you see something wrong, notably look at my previous e-mailto the list with DNS server lookup. This is for the very long time to load. I prefer to see the same exchange after renaming ekiga account with ...%limit. Because in this case the Contact field should not contain your private IP address anymore. And if the Call-ID from the message received still contains 192.168.0.101, then this surely has been modified by your router, since this address does not appear anywhere in the outgoing packet. Or maybe the error is different with %limit? This would allow to see where the error is, at least. -- Eugen From Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr Tue Apr 5 14:51:17 2011 From: Eugen.Dedu at pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (Eugen Dedu) Date: Tue, 05 Apr 2011 16:51:17 +0200 Subject: [Ekiga-list] Another problem (communicating with contacts) In-Reply-To: <4D5F3B92.40109@adcl.us> References: <4D5F3B92.40109@adcl.us> Message-ID: <4D9B2C65.5070802@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> On 19/02/11 04:40, Anthony Papillion wrote: > Hello again everyone, > > I have ANOTHER problem... > > My Ekiga name is cajuntechie. It was working yesterday and stopped in the evening. Still does not work today. Symptoms are that other people can hear me but I cannot hear anything. I call the echo test and hear nothing. My set up is correct. I have another sip address with another provider and it works perfectly. Same software, same device. I can hear and receive sound no problem. I have tried on Ubuntu with both Ekiga and Twinkle software. I have also tried on an android tablet with CsipSimple. Same thing on all tests. If I connect to another provider everything works fine, connect through my ekiga.net account and there is no sound. Makes no sense. This cannot be a hardware or configuration issue on my end. Tried with multiple software and multiple devices. I am able to hear sounds just fine using another sip provider. I hear no sound connecting with ekiga.net. The sound from the service simply stopped working. Any ideas? I haven't tried creating another account on ekiga.net. This stopped working with no configuration changes on my side. If Telepathy works, good for you. If it works in general (as in the iptel.org trace) but not with ekiga.net, then it looks like you're out of luck. I bet Telepathy works because it's using ICE instead of STUN to go through NAT. On the other hand, ekiga.net can be used only with STUN (otherwise you get a 606 Not Acceptable because of a private address in top Via). Some things that could get Ekiga working: * Disable STUN (it's somewhere in gconf) - if your router is rewriting SIP packets, that could do the trick, assuming the router is good at it. * Set your machine's hostname to something other than localhost - that could help with the Call-ID problem (IIRC Ekiga's using the hostname for Call-ID, I wonder where that IP came from). Easy - don't use your SIP-Account. There is no need for a SIP-Account when you are connecting via VPN. And the SIP Service certainly knows nothing about your VPN and has no access to it. That is the point of a VPN. To connect to another SIP client over VPN, just use sip:user at 192.168.x.x Now perhaps you are trying to connect to a public IP via the SIP service, and just happen to be running a VPN at the same time. This probably means that your VPN software is redirecting the default route to the VPN. You'll have to take that up with whatever VPN software you are using. Ekiga has nothing to do with it. How could do this with ekiga? > The drawing below shows this. It largely depends on the equipment in the studio. If the studio hardware/software can somehow accept SIP calls, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Just install Ekiga on the PC and call in to the studio. It shouldn't matter whether the network is over GPRS, as long as there is sufficient bandwidth (I suggest to disable all codecs except the one with the least bandwitdh that is supported by the studio) and it shows up as a network card on the PC. If you want to use Ekiga in the studio as well, it is not quite impossible but hard. And again, it depends on the studio setup. (diamondcard.us and aptela.com have no problems). I generally turn off network detection. I can only get ekiga.net to work with a public IP or single NAT layer (which you can get at Starbucks, etc). By any chance were you on a different network between morning and evening? Perhaps one meets ekiga.net requirements, and the other doesn't. All these NAT problems can be avoided if your contact has access to the same VPN as you (just skip ekiga.net and call direct). I suspect that using IP6 solves the problem as well. I haven't tested, but that would be a good reason to get serious about IP6. -- Stuart D. Do a speaker test 2. Look at the A:xx/xx in the call window. If the second number is 0, that confirms that network issues are preventing RTP packets for received audio. In general, no. Unfortunately Skype is using a proprietary protocol that isn't compatible with most (if not all) other VoIP clients. There are some Skype to SIP gateways around, including the official Skype for SIP. The official one has monthly subscription fee, and you can't call any Skype user, just those who have purchased an "online number" =/ Happy Easter to you as well! -- Ian From thedogfarted at gmail.com Mon Apr 25 10:30:17 2011 From: thedogfarted at gmail.com (=?UTF-8?B?SsSBbmlzIFJ1a8WhxIFucw==?=) Date: Mon, 25 Apr 2011 13:30:17 +0300 Subject: [Ekiga-list] streming with ekiga In-Reply-To: <201104241436.54592.pietroamadio.deltoso@virgilio.it> References: <201104241436.54592.pietroamadio.deltoso@virgilio.it> Message-ID: Hi, On Sun, Apr 24, 2011 at 3:36 PM, Pietro Del Toso wrote: > Radio-Mortlake is equipped with Windows XP with regard to the software and the > line is adsl, so there should be no problems with the SIP protocol, but how > can the streming to do? > And if in the study, as > receiver program, install ekiga makes communication difficult, which program > should play this role? Well, getting the audio from SIP to the radio stream is the hard part. If it's just a PC based web radio with no dedicated studio equipment, then I don't think that's possible without some custom software =( > The pastor has undersigned an account with ekiga-list (apiticco at ekiga.net), > ekiga should be installed in the PC that is in the church (please look at the > picture) with his account and call the study of radio? Under "SIP clients" there are a couple of programs which say they run on Windows. You will have to check them as I do not know. I have also noticed that if the machine isn't connected to any network then the GUI of Ekiga would start after one to three seconds, but if the machine is connected to some router (regular network, unlike this particular case) then the GUI of Ekiga would start after ten or twenty seconds, sometimes you'll need to wait up to ninety seconds, which is very unfortunate and gives a bad impression to new users that are experiencing this kind of behavior. Why does Ekiga waits for a working connection before it starts the GUI instead of starting the GUI before it and Ekiga will indicate about "searching..." for a working connection in its status-bar? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
