I would appreciate if anyone who have any experience with it will share his experience. If it is possible to use g.729, it would be great to post here a step by step description of what should be done for achieving it. I see that in opal-3.6.6 , there is some support for g.729 (in src/codec/g729mf.cxx) but I am not sure what this means/ Regards, AndyJ From Eugen.Dedu@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr Fri Nov 6 18:57:41 2009 Return-Path: X-Original-To: ekiga-devel-list@gnome.org Delivered-To: ekiga-devel-list@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1167375084F for ; Fri, 6 Nov 2009 18:57:41 +0000 (GMT) X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Spam-Flag: NO X-Spam-Score: -2.539 X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-2.539 tagged_above=-999 required=2 tests=[AWL=0.060, BAYES_00=-2.599] autolearn=ham Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id Ni92jgHCdBKG for ; Fri, 6 Nov 2009 18:57:35 +0000 (GMT) Received: from tharradin.pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (tharradin.pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr [194.57.85.210]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 755CE75006F for ; Fri, 6 Nov 2009 18:57:27 +0000 (GMT) Received: by tharradin.pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (Postfix, from userid 65534) id 575BF340222; Fri, 6 Nov 2009 19:57:25 +0100 (CET) Received: from [192.168.0.1] (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by tharradin.pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0FF2E3400F9 for ; Fri, 6 Nov 2009 19:57:24 +0100 (CET) Message-ID: <4AF47194.9060001@pu-pm.univ-fcomte.fr> Date: Fri, 06 Nov 2009 19:57:24 +0100 From: Eugen Dedu Organization: University of =?UTF-8?B?RnJhbmNoZS1Db210w6ksIEZyYW5jZQ==?= User-Agent: Mozilla-Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 (X11/20090701) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Ekiga mailing list X-Enigmail-Version: 0.95.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Subject: [Ekiga-devel-list] Retry stun test when changing network (re-registering) X-BeenThere: ekiga-devel-list@gnome.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.12 Precedence: list Reply-To: Ekiga development mailing list List-Id: Ekiga development mailing list List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 06 Nov 2009 18:57:41 -0000 Hi, I started ekiga one hour ago, when I was in a network where I had a public IP address. Hi,

I started ekiga one hour ago, when I was in a network where I had a
public IP address.

Now I am at home, where I have a private IP address.

I was surprised to see trunk's ekiga icon changed to an exclamation
mark, with "The following accounts are inactive: ..." as tooltip, this
was a good job!

But I see that now it fails to register (Globally not acceptable) to
ekiga, because I have a private address. When I started ekiga, I had a
public IP address, and the stun replied OpenNAT.

Conclusion: when re-registering after a network cut/interruption,
shouldn't the stun test be re-tried?

Well, it's just a minor issue...

Can you mail Robert ?
I agree about this. But you will need to reproduce the problem with a debug output.

But before that, I looked into it and it seemed it really retried the stun, which failed, afterwards it retried sip registering several times, until it received a response, the Globally not acceptable. Maybe the solution is to retry stun when the network is up again, not only before. Start ekiga -d 4, take a line, search the code (opal's and ptlib's too) for a word in that line, and look how the line is built. So, anybody who has experience with g.729 and Ekiga, (good or bad), please share your experience with us.
