I'm guessing it's the older GTK, but I can't see why. Unfortunately, I
kill ed my SuSE 10.0 installation recently, so I can't compare.

Which means it's "merely" a display problem. I think the GtkAction
transition may be involved. If you can compile a GTK 2.8.* and see if it
works there, we may see if we'll need to update the GTK requirements.
